Comeback for Øyafestivalen!
For the first time in three years, Øyafestivalen (like a lot of other live events) was once again held in Tøyenparken, and we’ve had such a good time! The festival opened Tuesday August 9th, and it felt like all of Oslo was there – it’s obvious that we’re not the only ones that has been missing the long summer days and night in Tøyenparken. Creative Technology was there as the main supplier, and our colleagues rigged, prepared and were at a total of six stages; Amfiet, Sirkus, Vindfruen, Hagen, Klubben and Biblioteket, ready to create another fantastic experience for a festival-thirsty audience.
Day 1, Tuesday, started with NRK’s podcast Musikkrommet, hosted by Sandeep Singh, at Biblioteket – before the first concert at Vindfruen with Kings of Convenience. The festival started with a bang with a fantastic lineup across all stages, among others Isah, Arif and Emilie Nicholas, before the whole day ended with an amazing concert from Gorillaz at Amfiet and Lemaitre at Sirkus.
Day 2, Wednesday, didn’t disappoint either, with Mall Girl as the first concert at Vindfruen. The quartet created an amazing atmosphere with their Math Pop, good mood and colourful outfits. Later the audience got to experience, among others, Myra at Amfiet, girl in red at Sirkus and JARV IS… at Vindfruen. Day two ended with an amazing show from Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds at Amfiet and Musti at Sirkus, both acts with a packed, excited audience.
Day three, Friday, started with Kvelertak at Musikkrommet before the first concert of the day with Undergrunnat Vindfruen. Later the audience got to see everything from Stranda’s Skarbø Skulekorps and Bergen rapper Kamelen at Vindfruen, Tøyen Holding at Hagen, Belarusian Molchat Doma at Sirkus and Dagny at Amfiet. The night ended with a packed audience at Amfiet with Florence + The Machine, back at Øya after seven years, and British Suede at Sirkus.
Day 4, Saturday and the last day of the festival started with Sondre Lerche at Amfiet. Later we got to see Metteson at Sirkus, First Aid Kit at Amfiet and Rosa Faenskap at Biblioteket. The festival as a whole ended with a fantastic show from AURORA at Amfiet and Kvelertak at Sirkus.
Wow, what an amazing week it’s been. It’s easy to see that Øyafestivalen has been missed, and we are delighted to finally be back working in Tøyenparken. Thank you so much for the cooperation and trust, and a big applaus to our fantastic colleagues that have been working non-stop the whole week. We can’t wait until next year!
