Kylie Minogue The 2018 Golden Tour

This is the fifteenth concert tour by the Australian recording artist who is promoting her fourteenth album release, Golden. Creative Technology were chosen to supply the LED, cameras, and video equipment for this tour, providing the technology to enhance the audience experience. To give the set a unique, 3D look, 206.6 sqm of ROE MC7 was used – making up five distinct screens all with 1.2m returns. This brought another dimension to the show, giving something more to the members of the audience, especially those sitting towards the sides of the arenas.

As well as the video elements of the show, CT also provided five HD Sony cameras with three dedicated camera men on-hand to ensure the best footage was captured. The camera grip consisted of long lenses which were mounted on pedestals as part of Video Director, Blue Leach’s, creative design to give the cameras more movement than is normally seen in arena tours and a Q-ball 3 Robocam mounted on Autopod all fed through gx 2 disguise server via a Panasonic AV-HS 6000 switcher. Notch was used for camera effects, creating real-time interactive video content which really assisted in bringing the show to life.

In addition to the five HD cameras provided for the tour (which were independently recorded every night). CT also provided five Sony HDC-4300 cameras to shoot the show in 4K for six of the tour shows. The use of a MediorNet system allowed for signals to be pushed back and forth to server control and Blue’s front of house position from the PPU backstage with the minimal delay.
