The Munch Museum in Oslo

The new Munch Museum in Oslo opened in October 2021 and is a landmark in the fjord close to the Opera House in the city centre. Together with the new public library, this represents the largest investment ever in cultural buildings in Oslo, Norway.

The Museum is another major contract that Creative Technology won in 2019. The delivery includes design and installation of the overall system for management, energy monitoring, management and control of the building’s fixed AV systems and components.

Digital infrastructure such as AV over IP for streaming audio-visual information was installed to dedicated display surfaces for information and art communication. The installation also included digital screens and multimedia displays in all halls, LED walls, stage machinery, digital guide systems with handheld devices, digital signage (indoor and outdoor) as well as control systems and mobile equipment for audio, video and light.

The museum had its grand opening on 22 October 2021, and the museum wanted the occasion to be a big public event although there were restrictions due to COVID-19. The chosen solution was therefore an outdoor stage with several screens showing the audience close-ups from the stage. Creative Technology supplied four 21m2 mobile LED screens and a camera production for the event. In addition, the museum wanted a spectacular kick-off including projection mapping of the façade of both the Munch Museum and the Opera house. The mapping consisted of Munch’s sayings, and this made a big impact on the city silhouette.
