First Agency Supports Goldman Sachs with The Largest Gathering of Small Business Owners in the U.S.

In July 2022, over 2500 small business owners in the United States descended on Washington DC for a conference to help to define the future of America’s small business agenda.  The Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Summit at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center featured a large general session, two main sessions, six breakouts and an Expo Hall that also doubled as the party venue.

Guest speakers David Solomon (Goldman Sachs CEO), Warren Buffet, Michael Bloomberg, Gwyneth Paltrow, Senator Marco Rubio and others spoke live onstage to the group of small business owners and every presentation was webcast via an integrated onsite production studio. With 18 cameras covering all 9 rooms and a full production team onsite, each session became a broadcast tv show for the web.

Creative Technology worked with production company First Agency to deliver all their technical needs for the project including a large 185’ wide projection mapping component added just prior to load-in to create a unique general session environment.  With 13 semis full of gear and a 165-person crew, CT worked with First Agency to deliver a flawless event, especially considering the extremely limited load-in timeline and limited onsite space

“This was the largest load-in the hotel had ever done in the shortest amount of time,” explains Ben DeFusco, Account Manager at Creative Technology. “Our Project Management Team worked with the client to build an extremely detailed onsite plan to help bring it all together successfully.”

The two large CB3 LED screens in the general session room were enhanced with the addition of projection-mapped walls (totalling almost 300’), as well as a large cube of CB3 which flew above the thrust stage.  This created an immersive environment for the live attendees. CT also incorporated a full virtual production studio master control, which integrated the Plenary as well as three additional large sessions. This MCR had individual control over all cameras, GFX, playback, lower thirds, etc –  creating a similar memorable and custom experience for online viewers.

CT client Karla Schmidt could not have been happier with the result.  “I can always trust Ben and his team at Creative Technology to go above and beyond to make everything run smoothly.  The production value CT added to this event was exactly what we needed to create an amazing experience for all who attended and viewed.”
